Abigail

It's hard to believe that 10 years ago today I was busy giving birth to you. What an amazing little spirit you have. I don't know how I was so blessed to have been chosen your mother but I am thankful everyday for it. Here's to my first born turning a double digit.
Happy Birthday Bug!

Torn

It is a chilly overcast day that screams "make soup". I am not sure which one to try? The cream of broccoli with cheese toasts or the white bean with bacon and escarole? Both sound delicious.

Considering

I have a problem I have to admit. I love Peet's coffee and I have a latte daily. So, I am thinking I should have my own machine so I can have a latte from the comfort of my own home. Also, it will be a cost savings in the long run? Do any of you have an espresso machine that is amazing? Do I really need to spend $$$ to get a quality machine? Please share your experience and advice.

Thinking About

Lately I have been contemplating if I should have bookshelves built into our Great room. It would create symmetry and give me a place to store books, (of all things!) pottery, pictures and of course shells.

To Do

This month has gotten away from me. I can hardly believe that next week is Thanksgiving. I have so much to do in preparation of the big day. To do list: planning, shopping and organizing.

Southern Comfort

Karyn and I are part of a supper club that meets about every six weeks. The theme and the locations change each time. Tomorrow's theme is Southern food, which having a first name like Rebel you would think I would know a lot about, and I don't. I am in charge of dessert and I plan on making red velvet cake and a sweet potato bread pudding. Every recipe I have consulted has a "must do this", " don't do that" comment in regard to good ol' Southern cooking and I'm unsure. If any of you have a great recipe, tip or otherwise PLEASE pass it our sunny California way. Thanks, and I'll report back on the outcome

Soup's On

With our first Fall storm come and gone, it officially feels like time to start cooking warm and soothing comfort foods. This weekend I'll be making a pot of chili for friends and I may also attempt some soups to savour next week.
