I heart this

Karyn introduced me to this new blog and I adore it. I think it is so fun that someone likes J Crew so much that she has created a blog about it. All J Crew all the time. I too heart J Crew so I get a kick out of it.

Weekend Plans

I have big plans to do a whole lot of nothing with some girlfriends this weekend. There are few things that measure up to some female bonding time and what it does for the soul. I plan on getting a lot of upper body exercise with the cocktail shaker as my primary tool of weight lifting. Hey, it is hard work shaking that thing to pour the delicious treasures that await the perfect martini glass.
In good spirits!

Get it while you can

As I sat in the dentist chair for 2 hours yesterday the only thing that kept me happy was flipping through the last copy of Gourmet magazine. The November issue is the final publication. So if you have ever relied on this magazine for Thanksgiving menus or cooking tips it does not disappoint. Even if your not a cook pick one up for nostalgic sake.

Soup's On

With our first Fall storm come and gone, it officially feels like time to start cooking warm and soothing comfort foods. This weekend I'll be making a pot of chili for friends and I may also attempt some soups to savour next week.

Top Ten

Things I love about this kitchen:1. The color of the island.
2. The lamp on the counter.
3. The casings around the windows.
4. The painting of fish, it's colors and it's placement.
5. The rag rugs (lately I've been loving rag rugs).
6. The ceiling beams.
7. The pendant lights.
8. The little shelves next to the stove.
9.The dark countertops.
10. Everything else, all of it!

Ink
I stumbled on these ink drawings from Maison et Object Fair in Paris. I adore this grouping and I could find many places for them in my home.

Late
My favorite day of the week is Saturday. I can usually sleep in. As far as I'm concerned, that is the best way to start a day.Homes and Gardens

Stark

There is so much and so little going on in these rooms. I am drawn to them. The bed is amazing, the light fixtures incredible. It just goes on and on.

Another One Down
The end of 70 years of publishing for Gourmet magazine announced today! It's terribly sad. Food is something that really connects so many of us. I hope that this trend does not continue, I do love my magazines.

Sweet

I am officially in the mood for all things Fall. My children and I left the local farm with our cornstalks in tow to adorn the front door ( a tradition in my house). Now I'm gearing up to make all the sweet treats that accompany the season. I have tried a few of these recipes and was delighted ( especially the brittle). Are there any recipes that you are eager to create?
